Cowgirls Home For Pair Of Games

Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowgirls return to historic Las Vegas for home games with Black Hills State on Thursday evening and Chadron State on Saturday afternoon. NMHU is 5-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play. THE

FEARLING FILE: Lindsey Fearing is in her first year leading the Cowgirls having been named Head Coach on May 3rd, 2024. The Black Hills State graduate picked up her first career win on November 9th when NMHU beat Western New Mexico 80-60. She recorded her first RMAC win on December 7th as the Cowgirls topped Colorado School of Mines 74-73 in overtime.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING: Junior Juliana Aragon leads the way for NMHU through 12 games as she is seventh in the RMAC in scoring (15.3 per game), fourth in assists (4.3 per game) and sixth in steals (2.2/game). Aragon is also sixth in the conference with a field goal percentage of 44.5% and fifth in free throw percentage at 83.0%.

As a team, the Cowgirls are fourth in the RMAC in scoring at 66.0 points per game and third in the conference with a 41.6% field goal percentage.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION: Black Hills State comes to town with an overall record of 10-3 and a perfect 6-0 mark in RMAC play. Kalla Bertram is the leading scorer and rebounder for BHSU at 14.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per outing. Rachel Erickson is in her first year as the head coach at Black Hills State. Thursday's meeting is the first of two games between the two teams this season as the will meet again on March 1st, the final day of the regular season, in Spearfish.

Chadron State is 2-10 overall and 1-5 in conference play heading into this weekend's action. The Eagles will play Adams State in Alamosa before their Saturday date with the Cowgirls. Ashayla is the leading scorer (12.3 points per game) and rebounder (6.8 rebounds per outing) for Chadron State. Travis Brewster is in his second season at Chadron State and he has a record of 8-31 with the Eagles.
