Las Vegas, New Mexico- Cowgirls drop first game of weekend trip.
The Cowgirls led off the weekend facing 20th ranked Colorado Mesa team, which could get it done offensively and defensively. The scoring on the day for Colorado Mesa started in the sixth minute of play when one of the Mavericks was able to get ahead on a breakaway to find the back of the net. The second goal came in the 33rd minute when keeper
Marie-France Foguenne punched the ball out. The Cowgirls' defense couldn't reach it, allowing a Maverick to score, making the score 2-0. That would ultimately be the final.
"I think it's really important that we only lost 2-0 to a team ranked 20th in the nation, so it shows our players that if they are willing to put in the work, we can do it, and our work effort is what we can control, and we did that today." Coach Evans spoke after today's match about what her team could learn from the experience.
UP NEXT: Cowgirls are back in action Sunday as they take on Westminster, with kickoff set for 1 PM at the Cinder Road Field.
