Golden, Colorado - The Colorado School of Mines kept the NMHU offense in check en route to a 48-21 win on Saturday afternoon at Marv Kay Stadium. The Cowboys are now 5-4 overall and 3-4 in RMAC play while the Orediggers improve to 6-3 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
The Cowboys scored first on Saturday when
Collin Stucki connected with
Jeffery Jones for a 19 yard touchdown to cap an eight play 56 yard scoring drive on the second possession of the game.
Mines was responsible for the next five scores as they built a 17-7 lead at the half and then pushed that margin to 34-7 at the end of the third quarter.
As the fourth quarter opened,
Tevita Valeti punched it in from four yards out for the Cowboy's second touchdown of the day. Valeti added another touchdown run late in the game.
As a team, the Orediggers out gained the Cowboys 527-405.
Jeffery Jones led the Cowboys with 67 yards on 16 carries and
Collin Stucki went for 55 yards on 13 attempts.
Tevita Valeti had 30 yards and the two touchdown runs.
Stucki was 16 of 22 passing the ball for 198 yards and the first quarter touchdown to
Jeffery Jones.
Mike Jones had seven catches for 78 yards.
The Cowboys play their 2025 home finale next Saturday afternoon hosting Fort Lewis at 1:00 pm. NMHU will honor its 2025 seniors in Senior Day festivities presented by Quality Care before in pregame ceremonies.

Jeffery Jones is 263 yards shy of the New Mexico Highlands single season rushing record of 1,621 yards set by former Cowboy great Thelbert Withers in the 1992 season.
