Rapid City, South Dakota - The Cowgirls dropped a tough 77-69 decision at South Dakota Mines on Thursday night. With the loss NMHU is now 13-12 overall and 10-9 in the RMAC. After tonight's action around the conference NMHU, Regis, and Colorado Mines are in a three way tie for the final two conference playoff spots.
Four Cowgirls scored in double figures on Thursday led by Julaina Aragon who scored 20 points.
Eva Ongoongotau had a career high 17 points.
Aspen Salazar and
Caitlin Turnbow added 13 and 10 points respectively.
The Cowgirls led the game through the first three minutes of the opening quarter on Thursday but could not slow down the hot shooting Hardrockers after they captured the lead.
The Hardrockers led 36-44 at the half and never trailed in the second half.
South Dakota Mines held a 36-27 edge on the boards.
The Cowgirls play the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon at Black Hills State. Tip-off is set for 1:00 pm.
