Las Vegas, New Mexico - New Mexico Highlands quarterback Kadyn Parr has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in the Cowboys' 44-36 victory over Black Hills State on Saturday.
Parr completed 20-of-31 passes for a career-high 315 yards and four touchdowns as New Mexico Highlands handed Black Hills State its first loss of the season and improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in RMAC play.
The redshirt junior spread the football around throughout the afternoon, completing passes to 11 different receivers. His four touchdown passes went to four different Cowboys, connecting with Asaiah Smith for 24 yards, Brian Spotwood II for 56 yards, Ryan Hamilton for 20 yards and Maurice Collier Jr. for 14 yards.
Parr also led New Mexico Highlands on the ground with 64 rushing yards, giving him 379 yards of total offense in the victory.
Three of Parr's touchdown passes came during a stretch in which New Mexico Highlands scored 28 unanswered points. His 56-yard connection with Spotwood II gave the Cowboys a 23-14 advantage in the second quarter, and Parr found Hamilton for a touchdown with four seconds remaining before halftime to send New Mexico Highlands into the locker room leading 30-14. His fourth touchdown pass, a 14-yard strike to Collier Jr., extended the Cowboys' advantage to 37-14 in the third quarter.
Parr's 315 passing yards were the most by a New Mexico Highlands quarterback since Nov. 12, 2022, against Colorado Mesa, when current Cowboy coach Gage Guardiola threw for 341 yards. The Cowboys finished Saturday's victory with 434 yards of total offense and averaged 6.2 yards per play.
Through four games this season, Parr has helped lead New Mexico Highlands to a 3-1 start, with the Cowboys averaging 40.5 points per game.
Parr and the Cowboys travel to Rapid City, South Dakota, to face South Dakota Mines this Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
