Why you chose NMHU I loved the team atmosphere. Coach DeVries has developed many athletes into not only amazing runners, but also memorable individuals. I loved the way he pushed the team, and was so positive and motivating. I knew he would soon become my favorite coach. Not to mention, we are surrounded by beautiful mountains, and rivers.
Notable Post-HS Information NMHU mile record holder.
NMHU DMR record holder.
Information about you or other family members that may make for an interesting feature story (such as famous family members or family members who played in college/professionally). My parents (Isaac and Astrid Lovato) both ran Cross Country throughout their high school careers. They actually met at a cross country meet. The men and women used to have combined races... so my dad would finish his race and then turn around to literally go and push my mom to the finish line. Today, whenever my dad trains my sisters and I, my mom always says "Just be lucky your father isn't pushing you to the end, and there's no slowing down." I come from a family of three sisters. Two older, and one younger. In 8th grade, I had the opportunity to run with both my two older sisters. Rebecca was a Senior in high school, Britney was a Sophomore, and I was an 8th grader. In that same year, we managed to take a home a state championship while all running on Varsity together. I also had a similar opportunity with my little sister Gracey. After finishing high school I signed with NMHU while my older sister, Britney, was attending Western New Mexico University. Once again, I got to lace up my shoes in a collegiate race with my sister; unfortunately it was running with her, but against her. My little sister Gracey is now also attending WNMU, so I'll have the chance to run against her here soon. A family of runners is what we were destined to be. As my parents say "they breed horses the same way we bred you." I couldn't be more blessed by God to come from such a supportive and motivating family.
Your Hobbies I love hunting, fishing, and camping; The outdoors are my happy place. I love listening to country music. And most importantly, I love spending time with my family and God.
