David May comes from the University of the Incarnate Word where he was an Offensive Student Assistant.
May joined the University of the Incarnate Word coaching staff as a Student Assistant Coach working primarily with Running Backs before the 2018 Season.
In his second year on staff he helped guide UIW to five wins, breaking several of the program’s records including Pass Completions, Pass Completion Percentage, All Purpose Yards, and Total Points. During this time, he helped mentor a rushing attack that tallied the most Rushing Yards in a single game with 402 yards versus Texas Southern, during this game the Cardinals also set a program record for total yards in a game with 840.
In May’s first season with the Cardinals he helped guide UIW to the best season in program history ending in a Southland Conference Championship and the first playoff appearance in program history in the first year under a new staff, the Cardinals were 1-10 the previous year.
May helped tutor First Team All-Southland Conference selection Ra’Quanne Dickens, who set multiple single season records during the 2018 Season, including single season rushing yards with 1,117 becoming the programs first 1,000-yard rusher. Following the season Dickens was named an FCS All-American by HERO Sports and FCS STATS.
The UIW offense set team records in total offense (5,314), total points (357), and touchdowns (48). It also set single game records with most yards of total offense (656) and most all-purpose yards gained (747), both against UCA on Nov. 10.
May earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a focus in Sport Management from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2019.
