Kenny Jackson has rejoined the New Mexico Highlands football staff for the 2014 season after a year hiatus away from Las Vegas, New Mexico.
Jackson, who will be the special teams' coordinator and wide receivers coach, spent last season as a wide receivers coach at Nebraska-Kearney. For the 2011 and 2012 seasons, Jackson served as an assistant coach with Highlands, helping the Cowboys to an 8-3 record in 2012. Working with the receivers, the Cowboys led the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in receiving yards (4,046) and average receiving yards per game (367.8).
Jackson mentored Kevon Williams and Darius Davis, who both received First Team All-Conference honors as wide receivers in 2012. Williams also earned Second Team All-Conference honors in 2011.
Other positions for Jackson include working for the Quick Twitch Performance Sports Training in Visalia, California. His duties included preparing wide receivers for pro days, combines and training camps in the National Football League, the Canadian Football League and the United Football League.
Playing for the University of Central Florida for the 2005 and 2006 seasons, Jackson received his degree in interdisciplinary studies from UCF in 2007. Following his collegiate career, Jackson served as the offensive coordinator at Winter Park HS in Orlando, Florida, before spending three seasons as the College of the Sequoias in Visalia, California. In his tenure with the Giants, he coached eight All-Conference receivers, four of which being selected All-State.
All of the aforementioned receivers went on to play for NCAA Division I programs.
Also at the College of the Sequoias, he was recognized as one of the best JC wide receiver coaches in the country. With the National Football Academies, he worked hand-in-hand with coach DJ McCarthy, who is known as one of the best NCAA Division I wide receiver coaches.
Jackson, who received his master's degree in human performance and sports from Highlands, has one son; Kenny Jackson Jr.
