Chisom Obioha joins the New Mexico Highlands University Track & Field coaching staff for her first season as a graduate assistant, working primarily with the Cowgirls in the jumps and sprints groups. A native of British Columbia Canada, Obioha brings a decorated collegiate career and a strong technical foundation to the Highlands program.
Before transitioning into coaching, Obioha was a standout long jumper in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, earning six All-RMAC honors during her competitive career. Known for her explosive athleticism and consistent championship-level performances, she established herself as one of the conference’s most reliable scoring threats in the horizontal jumps.
Obioha now applies that high-level competitive experience to her coaching philosophy, emphasizing technical precision, progressive development, and athlete-centered communication. Her background as a top RMAC jumper provides her with firsthand insight into the demands of conference competition insight she now channels into mentoring Highlands athletes.
In addition to her coaching duties, Obioha is pursuing master's in business at New Mexico Highlands University. Her combination of competitive success, academic drive, and passion for athlete development makes her a dynamic addition to the NMHU staff.
