Dr. Ben Bencomo currently serves as the Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) for New Mexico Highlands University and serves on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

An experienced educator, Dr. Bencomo is a published author and a social work practitioner who has presented nationally on best practices for teaching in a higher education setting and has been the host of a popular national social work practitioner podcast for Continued Social Work.

Dr. Bencomo currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Facundo Valdez School of Social Work at NMHU. Dr. Bencomo also currently serves on the Council on Social Work Education’s Council on Racial, Ethnic and Cultural Diversity and was previously appointed to the Governor's Racial Justice Council by New Mexico
