Jim Deisler

Jim Deisler is in his first year as the Athletic Director for NMHU Athletics and his 15th year overall at NMHU as he served as the head volleyball coach from 2008-11 and Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Title IX Coordinator from 2012-2022.
 
Deisler served as the interim athletic director in 2013-14 as well as handling his roles as compliance and Title IX coordinator. During his tenure, Highlands athletics saw two different athletes win national championships: Shanice McPherson in the long jump in the indoor track and field season and Salcia Slack in both the heptathlon and long jump during the outdoor track and field season. There were also six different athletes be named All-America 13 times and even a student athlete – baseball’s Matthew Chavez – be named a CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-American.
 
Prior to NMHU, Deisler was at Iowa Central Community College where he was the head coach at Iowa Central for three seasons. In those three seasons, he posted a 70-44 record as well as produced seven Academic All-Americans. His 2006 team qualified for the national tournament for the second time in school history and his 2007 squad finished No. 8 in the nation. Deisler had Iowa Central ranked as high as No. 4 in the NJCAA.
 
Deisler also coached at the University of Central Oklahoma, where he was an assistant coach for one season and was also the head coach at Mid-Del Christian School for six seasons. In those six seasons, Deisler’s teams won five state championships. He also coached junior teams with USA Volleyball for nine years.
 
Jim is married to Sandra and they have two sons: Zane and Brenen.
