LAS VEGAS, N.M.- The Las Vegas, New Mexico area Subway® restaurants and Manger Regina Denardo is pleased to announce that Men's Basketball player senior Kendrick Nichols from Chicago, Ill has been named the Subway Eat Fresh Student-Athlete of the Week.


Nichols had his best weekend of the season to help the Cowboys retain the top spot in the RMAC at an outstanding 5-0. Nichols averaged 27 ppg, 7 rpg, and 2 apg while starting one game this weekend. Nichols shot 50% (20-40) from the field, 50% (11-22) from behind the arc, and went three-for-three from the charity stripe.
 
In Friday’s game against Black Hills State, Nichols had 32 points including the game-winning three with four seconds left in double overtime.

In its second year, the Subway® Student-Athlete of the Week will be chosen every week for the athletic year. Every student-athlete chosen for the weekly award will be eligible to win the Subway Eat Fresh® Student-Athlete of the Year award following the 2015-2016 academic year. While the weekly award will be based on athletic prowess, the yearly award will be bestowed upon an athlete based on success not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom and community involvement.
