LAS VEGAS, N.M.- The Las Vegas, New Mexico area Subway® restaurants and Manger Regina Denardo is pleased to announce that Men's Basketball player junior Marlon Johnson from Chicago, Ill. has been named the Subway Eat Fresh Student-Athlete of the Week.

Johnson had another spectacular weekend as the Cowboys went 1-1 against Colorado Christian and Colorado School of Mines. Johnson averaged 25.5 ppg, 9.5 rpg, and 2.0 blocks per game. In addition Johnson shot 53% (17-32) from the field, 50% (3-6) from the arc, and an outstanding 94% (14-15) from the charity stripe.

On Friday against Colorado Christian Johnson had 18 points and 10 rebounds. In the game against Colorado Mines Johnson has 33 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks in just 37 minutes of play. His performance against Colorado Mines is his career high in a Cowboy uniform, passing his 28 points against Western State on 12/11/15. Johnson leads the team in double-doubles this season with 5.

In its second year, the Subway® Student-Athlete of the Week will be chosen every week for the athletic year. Every student-athlete chosen for the weekly award will be eligible to win the Subway Eat Fresh® Student-Athlete of the Year award following the 2015-2016 academic year. While the weekly award will be based on athletic prowess, the yearly award will be bestowed upon an athlete based on success not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom and community involvement.
