Brandon Mason begins his first season with New Mexico Highlands University basketball, following Craig Snow from the University of New Mexico.
For the last two seasons, he served as the Video Administrator for the Lobos. As the video administrator, Mason is in charge of all facets of UNM's video operations; filming practice, obtaining opponent game footage and cutting up and developing scouting tapes for the coaching staff and players. Mason ran the Lobos highly sophisticated video software, allowing for the coaching staff to have up to the minute information on both the team and its opponents - including full capabilities of video on the road.
Mason is continuing a solid career in basketball that started collegiately at New Mexico State. With the Aggies, he was a 1,000-point scorer and a two-time team Defensive Player of the Year. He is fifth all-time in steals and seventh in assists in New Mexico State history. Mason also had a solid career overseas, most recently playing in Lebanon for Byblos Sporting Club with former Lobo great Tony Danridge.
Mason also spent time playing professionally in New Mexico with the Gallup Talons (ABA) and the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (NBDL). With the Thunderbirds, Mason played for former Lobo great Michael Cooper and won the D-League title.
Brandon, who lives in Albuquerque, earned his degree in 2009 in individualized studies from New Mexico State, with a minor in hotel restaurant and tourist management.
