Dwight Combs

Dwight Combs is entering his fourth season as head coach of the New Mexico Highlands volleyball team.

Combs guided the Cowgirls to their best season in a dozen years in 2017 as NMHU went 10-13, including 7-11 in RMAC play to finish tied for ninth. NMHU's .435 winning percentage was the best for the program since going 19-8 in 2005 (.704) and the seven wins in conference play is the most since winning 13 games in RMAC play in 2005.

Overall, Combs enters the 2019 season 26-46 at NMHU and 18-36 in RMAC play.

Combs came to NMHU from UC Santa Cruz where he was the head volleyball coach from 2013-15. In his short stint with the Banana Slugs, the program won the GSAC conference title (2015), made two NCAA postseason appearances (including the program's first-ever appearance in 2013), and earned the school's first 20-win season since 1994.

Prior to his time at UC Santa Cruz, Combs served as the head coach of both the women's and men's volleyball teams at Holy Names University for five years. He was named Coach of the Year by the Cal-Pace Conference for three consecutive years in a row (2010-2012). In 2010 and 2011, his teams went undefeated and were named conference champions. In his career, he has also coached three Junior National Qualifying teams (2003, 2007 and 2015).
