The NMHU Cowgirls Soccer team had a rough weekend as they lost two very tough RMAC games. The Cowgirls took on the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions at Perkins Stadium to start their weekend series. The Cowgirls would eventually lose to the Mountain Lions 1-0 after a hard fought match. The Cowgirls would then travel to Lakewood, Colo. to take on the Colorado Christian Cougars and would fall to the Cougars by a 1-0 score as well.
Freshman
Lauren Waite started in the net for the Cowgirls against the Mountain Lions and had one goal allowed with no saves for the day. Sophomore
Shannon Delarosbil came in at the half to relieve Waite and had no goals allowed with 3 saves on the day.
The Cowgirls offense kept the UCCS defense busy at they had 21 shots while UCCS had only 9 shots for the game. The Cowgirls had to step up their physical game as the rough Mountain Lions fouled the Cowgirls 25 times and the Cowgirls only had 12 fouls on the Mountain Lions.
The Cowgirls would then face off with the Colorado Christian University Cougars. The Cowgirls and Cougars both had 6 shots on goal with only the Cougars hitting the back of the net and scoring. The Cowgirls lost to the Cougars 1-0.
The lone goal for the game, for the Cougars, came at 12:59 on the game clock. Delarosbil started in the net for the Cowgirls and had 1 goal allowed and 3 saves. Waite came in at the half and had 2 saves with no goals allowed.
The Cowgirls will be in action again on 10/14 as the travel to Alamosa, Colo. to take on the Adams State Grizzlies. Game time is scheduled for 3:00pm.
