The NMHU Cowboys rebounded from their 1/15 loss to Metro State College in a big way on 1/16 as they pounded the Regis Rangers by a final score of 86-68. The Cowboys took an early lead and never looked back as they cruised to their ninth win of the season. The Cowboys are now 9-6 overall and 3-4 in RMAC play. The Cowboys will hit the hardwood again on 1/22 when they take on the Mavericks of Mesa State College.
The Cowboys offense was on fire as they finished the night shooting an impressive 50% from the field and 63% from the free throw line. The Cowboys defense would hold Regis to 38% from the field and 25% from the three-point line. The Cowboys defense caused fit for the Rangers as the Cowboys racked up a season high six blocked shots as a team and eight steals.
Leading the Cowboys in scoring was
Mindaugas Markevicius with 16 points on the night. Markevicius would add in one rebound and one assist for the night. Markevicius was and impressive four of six from the three point line as he led the Cowboys in three point baskets made. Other leading scorers were:
Chop Tang and
Kelvin Franklin. Tang finished with 12 points, six rebounds and one assist. Franklin finished with 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal.
The Cowboys will be at home again on 1/22 when the host the Mesa State Mavericks at 8:00pm in the John A. Wilson Complex.
