Grizzlies Too Much for Cowboys

Cowboys Fall 55-0

The NMHU Cowboys fell to the Grizzlies of Adams State College by a final score of 55-0 on 10/9. With the win, Adams State got their first RMAC win of the season. The Cowboys are now 1-5 overall and 1-3 in RMAC play. NMHU returns home to Perkins Stadium for their next game as they play host to the Eagles of Chadron State University on 10/16.

The Cowboy offense struggled against the stingy Grizzly defense as they finished the day with season low 110 total offensive yards (26 yards rushing and 84 yards passing). The Cowboys won the time of possession battle holding the ball for 32:25, but failed to get points on the scoreboard. Quarterback, Jordan Mendoza, would finish the day completing 14 of 26 passes for 84 total yards on the day. Mendoza would also throw three interceptions on the day as he would be under duress by the ASC defense all afternoon.

Defensively, the Cowboys couldn't seem to find an answer for the Grizzly offense either as ASC racked up 441 yards for the day. The Grizzlies would pile up rushing yardage with 271 yards on the ground and finish with 170 yards in the air. Tony Udley would lead the Cowboy defense as he finished the day with 14 tackles.

The Cowboys will have a week to regroup after the loss as they play host to the Eagles of Chadron State College on 10/16. Kick-off is set for 1:00 pm at Perkins Stadium in Las Vegas, N.M.
