The NMHU Cowboys got their second win in as many days on 11/20 as they crushed the Crusaders from Tennessee Temple University by a final score of 102-91 in the Cowboys final game of the
Adams State Bankers Classic. The Cowboys led throughout the majority of the game as they led by as much as 22 points during the game. The win puts the Cowboys at 2-0 on the season. The Cowboys will take the court again on 11/29 as they face the
Eagles of Northern New Mexico College in their 2010 home opener.
The Cowboys finished the game shooting 54% from the field as well as 35% from the three point line. The Cowboys would also finish the game with a free throw percentage of 71% for the game as they drained 31 of 44 free throws as a team.
Mindaugas Markevicius led all scorers with 23 points against the Crusaders. Markevicius would add in three rebounds, one assist and one steal for his night's totals.
Thomas Manzano and
Chris Newsome would round out the top scorers for the Cowboys. Manzano would finish the game with 20 points and seven rebounds while Newsome would end his night with 19 points, five rebounds and two assists.
“It was a great tournament as well as a great test for our young team. We have a long way to go and lot to learn to get where we need to be. It will be nice to get back in front of our home crowd for our home opener,” said
NMHU Head Coach Joe Harge following Saturday's game.
The Cowboys will hit the hardwood next on 11/29 as they face the Eagles of Northern New Mexico College in their 2010 home opener.
