The NMHU Cowboys won their sixth straight game of the season as they slipped by the Mountaineers of Western State College by a final score of 77-66. The Cowboys would regroup after trailing 38-36 at the half to pull off the double digit win. The Cowboys are now 6-0 on the season and 3-0 in RMAC play as they sit atop the RMAC standings with their unblemished record.
The Cowboys would struggle with Mountaineers in the first half as the lead would flip flop between the two teams several times. The Mountaineers would lead at the half by a score of 38-36. In the second half, it was all Cowboys as they outshot the Mountaineers hitting 13 of 22 shots for a 59% team shooting percentage for the half compared to the 38% shooting percentage put up by the Mountaineers. The Cowboys would lead by as much as 14 in the second half as they cruised to their sixth win of the season.
Thomas Manzano would lead all scorers with 26 points on the night. Manzano would add two rebounds and one assist to his night's totals.
Mindaugas Markevicius would finish the night with 13 points and two rebounds.
Mike Moody would lead the Cowboys in rebounds with a game high 11 rebounds. He would also have four points and three assists on the night.
The Cowboys will look to continue their winning ways as they travel to Grand Junction, Colo. to take on the Mavericks of Mesa State College on 12/11. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm.
