The NMHU Cowboys ran away with their seventh win of the season on 12/17 as they dropped the Mountain Lions of the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs by a final score of 94-69 in front of a raucous crowd in the John A. Wilson Complex. The Cowboys would take the lead at the fourteen minute mark of the first half and never look back in the win. With the win, the Cowboys improve to 7-1 on the season and 4-1 in RMAC play. The Cowboys will hit the hardwood again on 12/18 when the host the Thunderwolves of CSU-Pueblo in their final RMAC contest before the winter break.
“This was a great team victory. Everyone contributed and it was a great way to bounce back after our loss to Mesa State. Now we have to get ready for a very hungry and athletic CSU-Pueblo team” commented NMHU Head Coach Joe Harge following his Cowboys 94-69 win over the UCCS Mountain Lions.
The Cowboys would finish the night with a 52% team shooting percentage compared to their opponents shooting percentage of 44%. The Cowboys would also win the battle on the boards with 38 on the night. The Cowboy defense would cause UCCS throughout the night as the Cowboys would tally nine blocks and nine rebounds on the night.
Thomas Manzano and
Mindaugas Markevicius would lead the Cowboys in scoring with 18 points each. Manzano would add in six rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot to his night totals. Markevicius would add in one blocked shot in his night's performance.
Mike Moody would round out the top Cowboy scorers with 12 points, eight rebounds and one assist.
The Cowboys will take the court again on 12/18 when the host the Thunderwolves of CSU-Pueblo in the John A. Wilson Complex in Las Vegas, N.M. Tipoff is set for 8:00 pm.
