The NMHU Cowboys started off Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play with a big 91-78 win over defending RMAC Shootout Champion Metro State College. The Cowboys started off the game with a three point basket by
Mindaugas Markevicius and never looked back as the Cowboys would never trail in the game. With the win, the Cowboys improve to 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in RMAC play. The Cowboys will hit the court again on 12/4 as they host the Rangers of Regis University in the John A. Wilson Complex.
“This was a great win for us; however we have to be cautious because there are 21 more conference games to go. Thomas (Manzano) and Mindaugas (Markevicius) were great tonight, but all in all it was a great team effort, a great crowd and a great way to start RMAC play,” said NMHU Head Coach Joe Harge of his Cowboys impressive win over Metro State College.
The Cowboys would lead by as much as 12 points during the win. The Cowboys would finish the night shooting 60% from the field, 63% from the three point line and 75% from the free throw line. The Cowboy defense would cause fits for the Roadrunners as the Cowboys held the Roadrunners to a 42% team shooting percentage for the night.
Thomas Manzano would play lights out for the Cowboys as he finished the night leading all scorers with 34 points. Manzano would shoot 58% from the field for the night in his outstanding performance as well as 73% from the free throw line. Manzano would add in five rebounds, one blocked shot and one steal to his night's totals.
Mindaugas Markevicius would finish second in scoring for the Cowboys with 20 points on the night. Markevicius would also have three rebounds and one assist for the game.
Mike Moody would round out the top Cowboy scorers with 10 points, four rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot.
