The NMHU Cowboys made it seven wins in a row on 2/13 as they pummeled the Grizzlies of Adams State by a final score of 104-77. The Cowboys started out the game a bit slow, but rode a tidal wave of momentum in the second half to secure the lop-sided win. The Cowboys are now 16-7 overall and 10-5 in RMAC play. The Cowboys will suit up for their final regular season home game on 2/16 as they take on the visiting CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves in the John A. Wilson Complex at 8:00pm.
The Cowboys looked a bit rusty in the first half of the game as they struggled offensively shooting 35% from the field. The Cowboys would go into the half only leading by three 43-40. The Cowboys would then come out in the second half and play inspired basketball as they shot an incredible 74 % from the field in the second half. The Cowboys would pull away in this on early in the second half and earn their seventh straight win by a final score of 104-77.
Leading the Cowboys was
Roman Andrade. Andrade finished the night leading all scorers with 27 points. Andrade would add in three rebounds, seven assists and two steals to his stat line for the night. Other outstanding performers for the Cowboys include:
Mindaugas Markevicius,
Kelvin Franklin and
Ryan Gonzales. Markevicius had a season high 18 points in the win as well as two rebounds, three assists, one blocked shot and one steal. Franklin scored 17 points with four rebounds, seven assists and one blocked shot. Gonzales would chime in with 11 points, two rebounds and one steal.
The Cowboys will take the court for their final regular season game of 2010 on 2/16 as they take on RMAC foe, CSU-Pueblo at 8:00pm. It will also be senior day on 2/16 so please make sure to join us to honor our senior class in between the men's and women's basketball games.
