The NMHU Cowboys fell to the Mesa State College Mavericks by a final score of 83-75 on 2/27. The Cowboys and the Mavericks traded blows like two heavyweight fighters throughout the contest, but in the end the Mavericks would come out on top. The Cowboys finish the regular season with a 18-9 overall record and a 12-7 RMAC record. The Cowboys will finish in third place in the RMAC West Division and will travel to Durango, Colo. to take on the second place Fort Lewis Skyhawks in the First Round of the RMAC Shootout on 3/2 at 7:00pm.
The Cowboys played tough and were neck and neck with the Mavericks throughout the contest. The Cowboys and the Mavericks would go into the half tied at 44 apiece, but the Mavericks would hit some late free throws to pull away for good and secure the win for the 2010 RMAC Champs.
Chop Tang led the Cowboys in scoring with 17 points on the night. Tang would add in six rebounds and two assists.
Mindaugas Markevicius would score 15 points on the night along with two rebounds, two assists and one steal.
