Cowboys Tame UCCS Mountain Lions 90-84

The NMHU Cowboys bounced back from the heartbreaking loss to CSU-Pueblo on 1/29 as they defeated the Mountain Lions of the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs by a finals score of 90-84 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Cowboys would finish the night with three players in double figures. With the win, the Cowboys improve to 14*5 overall and 10-5 in RMAC play. The Cowboys will return to their home court for their next opponent as they face RMAC rival Adams State College on 2/4.

The Cowboys and the Mountain Lions would trade the lead throughout the first half as the Cowboys would go into halftime with a narrow one point lead. The second half would be a different story as the Cowboys would lead throughout the second half. UCCS would make a run late in the final minutes, but the Cowboys would quickly extend their lead to seal the win. As a team, the Cowboys had a great night shooting as they shot000 56% from the field, 56% from three point land and 59% from the free throw line.

Thomas Manzano would lead the Cowboys in scoring as he finished with 21 points, one rebound, three assists and two steals. Chris Newsome would finish with 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Momcilo Latinovic would round pout the top three performers for the Cowboys with 16 points, seven rebounds and one steal.

The Cowboys return to the friendly floor of the John A. Wilson Complex to host the Adams State Grizzlies on 2/4.
