Cowboys Fall to ENMU Greyhounds 104-98

Box Score SANTA ROSA, N.M. – The NMHU Cowboys fell to the Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico on 11/23 by a final score of 104-98. The Cowboys sprinted out to an early lead in the first half over their in-state rival as they led by as much as 10 points at the 13 minute mark, but that lead wouldn't last for long as the Greyhounds clawed back to take the lead from the Cowboys with 5:29 remaining in the first half. The Greyhounds would take the lead for good from that point on. The Greyhounds would lead by as much as 13 points in the second half en route to their fifth win of the season. With the loss, NMHU drops to 1-2 on the season. The Cowboys will hit the hardwood again on 12/2 as they travel to Denver, Colo. as they start RMAC play with the Roadrunners of Metro State College at 8:00 p.m.

Leading all scorers for the night was NMHU's Marcus Williams. Williams finished with 21 points, four assists, six rebounds, and five steals in his 25 minutes of play. Billy Austin and Ryan Gonzales both finished in double figures for the Cowboys as they round out the top three NMHU performers for the game. Austin finished with 20 points, five rebounds and one assist. Gonzales finished with 16 points, one rebound and one assist. Gonzales would finish a perfect 5-5 from the three point line for the night.

The Cowboys will stand idle for the next week as they prepare to start RMAC play on 12/3. The Cowboys open up conference play with the Roadrunners of Metro State College in Denver, Colo. The Roadrunners were most recently voted as the #1 team in the RMAC Preseason Coaches Poll.
