Box Score The NMHU Cowboys fell to the #12 Orediggers of the Colorado School of Mines on 12/30 by a final score of 82-64. The Cowboys would hang tough with their nationally ranked opponent in the first half as they only trailed 37-34 going into the halftime break. In the second half it would be all Orediggers as CSM would outscore the Cowboys 45 to 30 in the second half of play en route to their ninth win of the season. With the loss, the Cowboys fall to 5-6 overall and 3-4 in RMAC play. The Cowboys will hit the hardwood again on 12/31 when they take on the Cougars of Colorado Christian University in Las Vegas, N.M.
As a team the Cowboys finished the night shooting 39.7% from the field and 60% from the free throw line. The Cowboys would pull down 34 rebounds for the night and steal the ball from the Orediggers four times. The Cowboy defense would also force 14 CSM turnovers.
Aaryon Williams led the way for the Cowboys shooting 64% from the field. Williams finished the night with 17 points and six rebounds. Williams would be the only Cowboy to finish the night in double figures.
Marquis Whitt and
Momcilo Latinovic would round out the top three performers for the Cowboys scoring eight and seven points respectively. Whitt finished the night with eight points and three rebounds. Latinovic finished with seven points and one steal.
