The NMHU Cowboys continued their winning ways on 2/19 as they outlasted to Roadrunners of Metro State College 74-67 on the road in Denver, Colo. as they battled back from a second half deficit to pull away in the final minutes of the game to seal the win. The Cowboys put a hamper on the Roadrunners homecoming festivities as they earned their 19th win of the season in front of a Metro State crowd of 1400+. With the win, the Cowboys are now 19-6 on the season and 15-6 in RMAC play.
The Cowboys finished the night shooting an even 50% from the field and 61% from the free throw line. The NMHU defense would force 13 Roadrunner turnovers and steal the ball eight times in the process. The Cowboys would also block four shots on the night, two coming from
Ledreece Smith as he led the Cowboys in blocked shots for the second night in a row. As a team, the Cowboys would pull down 29 rebounds on the night.
Three Cowboys would finish the night in double figures.
Thomas Manzano would lead the Cowboys for the night with 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists and three steals for the night.
Momcilo Latinovic would finish with 15 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Ryan Gonzales would round out the top three performers with 11 points, two assists and two steals.
The Cowboys will wrap-up their 2010-11 regular season on 2/26 as they travel to Silver City, N.M. to take on in-state RMAC rival the Mustangs of Western New Mexico University. The Cowboys have solidified a spot in the RMAC Shootout and now await their opponent for the tournament. Keep on checking
