Cowboys Ground Skyhawks 82-64

The NMHU Cowboys defeated the Skyhawks of Fort Lewis College by a final score of 82-64 in front of a raucous home crowd of 2/5. The win over Fort Lewis catapults to Cowboys ahead of the Skyhawks in the RMAC standings and puts them in third place overall. With the win, the Cowboys extend their home winning streak to 10 in a row the Cowboys also improve to 16-5 on the season and 12-5 in RMAC play.

The Cowboys would set the tone early as they held the potent Skyhawk offense to under 10 points within the first 11 minutes of the game. The Cowboys would lead 26-9 at the 9:14 mark. The Cowboys would never trail as they would lead by as much as 26 points. The Cowboys would finish the night shooting 51% as a team and 74% from the free throw line as a team. The Cowboy defense would cause fits for the Fort Lewis offense as they forced 17 turnovers, blocked three shots and stole the ball six times from the Skyhawks.

Four Cowboys would end the night in double figure in the win. Thomas Manzano would lead all scorers with 17 points. Manzano would add in seven rebounds and two assists to his night's totals. Momcilo Latinovic would finish the night with 14 points, three rebounds and three steals. Chris Newsome finished the night with 10 points, two rebounds, four assists and one steal. Ryan Gonzales would round out the top four Cowboys scorers with 10 points and two steals.

The Cowboys will take the court next on 2/11 when they play host to RMAC rival Mesa State College. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. in the John A. Wilson Complex.
