Box Score The Cowgirls (2-5 in the RMAC and 6-10 overall) were dropped in three (25-11, 25-18, and 25-14) straight sets to #20 Regis University (5-2 in the RMAC and 11-6 overall) in Denver, Colorado.
Junior outside hitter
Darian Mullen stood out for the Cowgirls with ten kills and senior outside hitter
Ashley Nugent notched-up five kills and six digs.
Set one started slowly for the Cowgirls who faltered when the Regis Roadrunners had a 15-5 run. The team attempted to stay afloat, but Regis would end up taking the set 25-11.
Set two looked to be a different story when the Cowgirls were tied 4-4 but it wasn't enough. NMHU would not be able to answer the run set by the Roadrunners making it 13-7. In the end, the Cowgirls could not recover losing the set 25-18.
After the eight minute half time the Cowgirls looked to get the ball going in their favor for the third set. Maintaining a competitive composure the Cowgirls showed heart, battling for every dig and trying to shave the 18-8 lead by #20 Regis University. The Cowgirls came up short, falling 25-14.
The Cowgirls' next game will be a conference match up against Metropolitan State College of Denver, on 10/5, in Denver, Colorado.
