Box Score The NMHU Volleyball team lost their match against Western State Colorado University, on 11/3, in Gunnison, Colo. The Cowgirls won the first set of the night, 26-24, but the Mountaineers were able to recover and take the next three sets (27-25, 25-22, 25-21) to win the match on their home court. With the road loss the Cowgirls, led by Head Coach
Bryan Crawford, fall to 2-15 in the RMAC and 6-21 in overall play.
The Cowgirls were led by
Darian Mullen, who led all players with an outstanding 25 kills. Mullen also added 15 digs in the match and posted a .273 attack percentage for the Cowgirls.
Katie Saavedra and
Ashley Nugent rounded out the top performers for the Cowgirls in Gunnison. Saavedra led all players on the night with 23 digs while Nugent had 10 kills and seven digs for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls will finish off the 2012 volleyball season with a home stand next weekend, 11/9-10, at the John A. Wilson Complex. They face Fort Lewis College on Friday, 11/9, at 7:00 p.m. Then on Saturday, 11/10, they will finish the season against Colorado Mesa University, also set for a 7:00 p.m. start. Saturday night will be senior night for the Cowgirls as they show their appreciation for the players that will be playing their final game for NMHU.
