Box Score Las Vegas, N.M. - The Cowgirls suffered their first loss of the 2013 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season to the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa University. The Cowgirls played three very competitive sets against the Mavericks, however they got swept (25-18, 25-19, and 25-19).

During the first two sets of the match the Cowgirls just couldn't keep up with the intensity from the Mavericks.
In the first set, the Cowgirls were ahead early in the set six to five. They couldn't keep the lead for long. The Mavericks took control of the lead and the Cowgirls couldn't regain their lead back.
In the second set, the Mavericks continued their momentum from their first set but this time they took advantage of the early lead. The Cowgirls played a competitive second set. However, that wasn't enough for the Cowgirls.
In the last set, the Cowgirls were down again midway through the set, 17-9. Then the Cowgirls started to make a comeback. The crowd was getting very loud and rallying behind the Cowgirls when they went on a seven to four run. Senior
Marina Samoa had three kills during this run. Senior
Jazmine Harge also had a kill during this run. The Cowgirls took advantage of mistakes from the Mavericks, but the Mavericks finished the set by overcoming a few obstacles and sweeping the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls continue RMAC play on Sept 21, against Fort Lewis College, at 6:00 p.m. in the John A.Wilson Complex.
