Box Score 2 Wichita Falls, Texas - The Cowgirls started the last day of the 2013 Hampton Inn Innovational Tournament with a victory over the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State University. The Cowgirls swept the Rangers in three sets (25-9, 25-19, 25-23). The Cowgirls' hitting average for the match was .316 with three team blocks. In the final match of the tournament, the Cowgirls finished with another victory over the War Hawks of McMurry University. The Cowgirls swept the War Hawks in three sets (25-18, 25-21, 25-16). The Cowgirls' hitting average for the match was .176 with one team block.

The Cowgirls were led again by senior
Darian Mullen. She had 12 kills, three digs, one block assist, and finished with 12.5 points. Her hitting average was very impressive at .409. Junior Cowgirl
Alicia Moreno had a brilliant performance. She had 13 kills, one assist, five digs, one block assist, and finished with 13.5 points. Her hitting average was also impressive at .400.
The Cowgirls started quickly in the first set, taking the lead 3-0 against the Rangers.
Darian Mullen started very strong, earning two out of the three kills for the Cowgirls. The Cowgirls continued the strong momentum during the match and dominated the Rangers. Both
Darian Mullen and
Alicia Moreno finished the set with four kills.
Continuing the momentum from the first set, the Cowgirls were clicking offensively. They took control of the lead from the start of the set.

In the final set, the Cowgirls and the Rangers were in a very intense match. The Cowgirls took control and the lead early 6-3. However the Rangers would tie it up at 9-9. There were 10 scoring ties. Towards the end of the match it was tied again at 20-20 but the Cowgirls were determined to capture the final set with a victory.
NMHU 3 – McMurry University 0
The Cowgirls looked to continue momentum against the War Hawks. In the first set, the Cowgirls started very strong taking the lead 8-3. Then the War Hawks would go on a 10-3 run and tie the set at 13-13. Then the Cowgirls would tie the set again at 16-16. From this point on the Cowgirls would finish the set strong by going on an offensive attack. Seven out of the nine Cowgirl points in the set were kills. Both
Alicia Moreno and freshman
Bailey Weidner had four kills.
In the second set it was very tight. There were three scoring ties between the Cowgirls and the War Hawks. The first tie was early in the set at 3-3. Then the Cowgirls would go on a 7-4 run, taking the lead at 10-7. The next tie would occur when the War Hawks went on a 4-1 run and now the game was tied at 11-11. The last tie occurred at 16-16. Luckily for the Cowgirls they would take control of the game. The Cowgirls went on 9-5 run, taking advantage of the War Hawks attack and service errors.
In the final set, the War Hawks took the lead early 3-1. However, the Cowgirls would tie it up quickly at 5-5. The Cowgirls took charge and the lead over the War Hawks. 10 out of the 25 points were kills by the Cowgirls. Leading the Cowgirls during this run was junior
Nadia Morneau, she had six kills. The Cowgirls took advantage of the War Hawks errors by capitalizing on 10 errors to finish their second sweep of the day.
The Cowgirls ended the 2013 Hampton Inn Invitational Tournament with two sweeps against Northwestern Oklahoma State University and McMurry University. The Cowgirls improved their record to 3-1.
The Cowgirls will have their home opener this weekend, Sept. 13-14, for the 2013 I.C. Bhakta Volleyball Invitational Tournament at the John A. Wilson Complex, in Las Vegas, N.M.
