CHADRON, Neb.- The New Mexico Highlands University wrestling team (2-1, 0-1) lost its first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual match against the Eagles of Chadron State College by the final score of 30-9 with the Cowboys claiming three decisions.
At 125 pounds, sophomore
Erick Rangel (18-3) was in very tough match against Taylor Summers. The match was close throughout, but Rangel took the 9-8 decision.
The next five matches went to the home team with a pair of falls and an injury default.
The last four matches all were decided with decisions with the teams taking two matches each.
Junior
Easton Hargrave (9-8) at 174 pounds claimed a decision victory against Caleb Copeland, 10-7.
Senior
Igor Gomzin (6-7) at 184 lost against a Jordan Debus by a final 3-0 decision against 7th-ranked Jordan Debus.
Junior
Justin Rockhill (7-3) at 197 defeated Devan Fors in a tough dual by the final score of 6-5. Rockhill has won first three dual matches of the season.
Sophomore
Cody Marquez (9-6) at 285 lost in a tight 2-0 decision against Michael Hill.
The Cowboys next dual is on Friday Jan 17
th. against Colorado School Mines in Golden Colorado at 7 p.m.
