GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Cowboys claimed a trio of wins by forfeit, but the Mavericks took the other seven matches as New Mexico Highlands University (3-3, 1-3 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) fell to #18 Colorado Mesa (9-2, 3-0 RMAC) 29-18.
With the match coming down to the last event, Highlands nearly pulled off the upset. Sophomore
Cody Marquez nearly pinned his opponent, but Francisco Retana tallied the fall in 5:20.

The Cowboys wrestlers compete in its first true home dual Wednesday (Jan. 29) when they host Adams State. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
