DENVER, Colo. – The Cowgirls managed a 19-10 edge in shots, including 9-3 in shots on target, but a 12th minute goal by the home team lifted #23 Metropolitan State University of Denver (5-1-2, 2-0-2 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) to a 1-0 victory over New Mexico Highlands (4-3-1, 1-2-1 RMAC Sunday afternoon (Sept. 28) in Denver.
The Cowgirls managed two shots in the first 10 minutes, including a shot on target, but it was MSU Denver who scored what would be the game-winning goal in the 12th minute. Highlands committed a foul, and Alexie Marr put the free kick in the box to Jordan Post. Post kicked the shot into the back of the net, her first score of the season.
The Cowgirls outshout the Roadrunners 17-9 the rest of the way, but they could not find the back of the net as the home team held on for the victory.

Mallory Bostic led Highlands offensively with six shots on target. Freshman goalie
Sarah Beecher (4-3-1) grabbed a pair of saves in the loss.
MSU Denver goalie Breanna Flores tallied nine saves and improved to 5-2-1 on the year.
The Cowgirls return to action Friday (Oct. 3) when they host Colorado School of Mines. Game time is 7 p.m.
