LAS VEGAS, N.M.- The New Mexico Highlands University Volleyball team (4-8, 1-4 RMAC) host two conference teams, Colorado Mesa (6-7. 4-1 RMAC) and Westminster College (4-9, 1-4 RMAC), this weekend.

The Cowgirls look to gain momentum after they broke their four game losing streak, with a win over Johnson & Wales University at Colorado (Sept. 27) in four sets. Sophomores Katie Trammel, and Talise Babbitt had a strong presence in their last match having 13 kills each and seven and four block assists respectively. Contributing to their kills was Senior Riley Smith who had 29 assists in the match.

Scouting Colorado Mesa

The Mavericks are currently tied for first in the Rocky Division (6-7, 4-1 RMAC). It is going to be a tough match because Mesa's defense ranks top 4 in the conference with opponent hitting percentage (.174) and opponent kills per set (11.77).

Currently, they are on a two game winning streak against conference opponents. In addition, the Mavs dominated the Cowgirls last year, winning both games in straight sets.

Scouting Westminster College

On the other hand, the Griffins are last in the Rocky Division (4-9, 1-4 RMAC).
Westminster's strength is their ability to block since they are fifth in the conference.

They are on a two game losing streak against conference opponents. Their only conference win came against Colorado Mesa, which is Mesa's only loss in conference.

The Cowgirls play Colorado Mesa on Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. and Westminster College on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at home. Live stats and video will be avaiable.
