Box Score LAS VEGAS, N.M.- The Cowgirls break their 7-game losing streak in conference with a win against Adams State in five sets (25-17(L), 25-20(W), 25-21
(W), 25-20
(W)). Despite not coming out strong in the first like they have been doing, the girls would persevere and win the next three sets.

In the first set, each team would go on a 3-point run to start the set. Afterwards, they would go back and forth until the score was 11-10 Adams. The Grizzlies would then build a 7 point lead to make the score 18-11 Grizzlies. The Cowgirls would score a couple a few points but the lead was too big and the Cowgirls fell in the first set, 25-17.

The second set would not start in the Cowgirls favor, as they would be down 10-5, but the Cowgirls would then go in attack mode and start with a kill by
Kristin Woody to start a five-point run. After a point by the Grizzlies, the Cowgirls would tie and it up and control the set from there. With the help of several errors from the Grizzlies and six kills from Woody, the Cowgirls would win the set 25-20.

Third set would start the same way as the second, as the Grizzlies would take three of the first four points. From there, the Cowgirls would score four straight kills to take the lead. The score was tied at 8-8 when the Cowgirls would breakaway.
Tianna Matthews and
Riley Smith would help get it going with two kills. The Cowgirls would build a six-point lead twice in the set. Once with two aces from Woody, and another with two kills from
Andrea Nunez. Grizzlies would scrap some points at the end but again the Cowgirls would take the set.

In the fourth set, the Cowgirls would have big rallies and make plays to keep the points going. The Grizzlies took control early again and have a 8-5 lead. The Cowgirls would begin to fight back with kills and multiple Grizzlies errors to tie the game up at 13-13. Each team would later have four-point runs which brought us to the teams being tied at 18. The Cowgirls would then fight and make tough plays, using big defensive plays from
Lexis Satele and others. Woody, who lead the team in kills, would end the match for Cowgirls on a kill.

Nunez would finish the match with a double-double (12 kills and 14 digs), as fellow teammate
Caroline Hansen would be a dig shy with 10 kills and 9 digs.

The Cowgirls return to action against Metro State, on Oct. 16, at 7p.m. in Denver Colorado.
