GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Cowboys could not muster much offense in the series finale as New Mexico Highlands (9-13, 3-9 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) lost to #1 Colorado Mesa (24-2, 16-0 RMAC) 11-2 Sunday afternoon (March 22).

EJ Stanton had an RBI single in the ninth to lead Highlands. The Cowboys only had six hits for the game. Redshirt freshman
Curtis Hynes took the loss and fall to 3-2, allowing five hits and four runs (three earned) in 1.1 innings pitched.
The Mavericks scored the first eight runs of the game and never looked back. Every starter had a hit and all but one either had an RBI or run scored. Andy Scott had two triple in three at-bats with two RBI's and a run scored. Matt Delay picked up the win, improving to 2-1 by allowing four hits and one run in five innings of work.
The Cowboys return to action Friday (March 27) when they host Colorado School of Mines for a four-game set.
