SPEARFISH and RAPID CITY, S.D.- The New Mexico Highlands Volleyball Team (3-6, 1-2 Rocky Mountian Athletic Conference) go on the road this weekend when they travel to Black Hills State (3-7, 0-2 RMAC) and South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (2-8, 0-2 RMAC).

The Cowgirls look to bounce back after losing their second game of the season against #1 team in the RMAC, Western New Mexico in Las Vegas (Sept. 22) in three sets. Junior Caroline Hansen led the team with a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs. Teammate Riley Smith helped with 24 assists.

Senior Andrea Nunez is leading the team with 2.89 kills per set while she is third on the team with 2.26 digs per set. Senior Miranda Arredondo contributes 3.80 digs per set.

Scouting Black Hills State

The Yellow Jackets currently sit (0-2) in conference but the girls cannot take them lightly and need to play a strong game to get back on the winning side.

In the past two years, both teams have gone five sets against each other and have each won a game.

Lately, the Yellow Jackets have lost four in a row. The Cowgirls need to take advantage of the Yellow Jackets' errors since they have made 48 in the past two games.

In addition, the Hardrockers have yet to win a game in conference. Their only two wins of the season have come at home.

The Hardrockers have struggled lately and are currently on a seven game losing streak with the last two losses coming against top teams in conference such as Colorado Mines and Colorado Christian.

Although the Hardrockers are experiencing issues winning, the Cowgirls need to come out and take advantage of any mistakes and maintain their own mistakes at a minimum.

Next Up

The Cowgirls return home for a pair of games against Colorado Mesa and Westminster College next Friday and Saturday.
