Tough Day for Wrestling

KEARNEY, Neb.- The Cowboys are had a busy day today, Saturday January 16th. The grapplers had 4 duals at the UNK Midwest Duals hosted by former RMAC school Nebraska-Kearney. They faced Fort Hayes State, Mary, Nebraska-Kearney, and ended with RMAC wrestling opponent California Baptist.

Unfortunately the Cowboys dropped all four duals. The dropped the first one to Fort Hayes 36-6. Three of the Cowboys points came from Tre Humphrey who had then won five straight duals including 3 pins. The Cowboys other points came from J.B. Bechtloff in a tight 3-2 decision over Dylan Wiesner.

The Cowboys then dropped a close 24-21 dual to Mary University. The Cowboys found themselves in a 14-0 hole after the first three duals. Reis Humphrey then started the Cowboys rally with a 20-9 major decision over Weisbrod. Kellen Pelzel would continue the run with a 16-7 major decision over Eckert to close Mary's lead to 14-8. Juan Alvardo then dropped his dual in the 165 class. Bechtloff then came back and had another major decison for the Cowboys with a 9-1 win. Luis Terrazas then help bring Mary's lead down to three after defeating Green in a close 4-2 decison with only two dual left. Unfourntaly Grenowhich was pinned in 1:46 which would put the dual out of hand for th Cowboys even with the forfeit in the 285 weight class in favor of the Cowboys. Mary over the Cowboys 24-21.

The Cowboys would then face a tough former RMAC foe and host in Nebraska-Kearney. THe Cowboys would only take three duals in the match. THe first would come from Tre Humphrey in a 5-3 nailbitter for three points. Tre's brother Reis would get six points for the Cowboys in a fall that took 4:11. Rounding out the scoring for the Cowboys was Cody Marquez in the 197 weight class in a 11-5 decision. Kearney over the Cowboys 31-12

Rounding out the day would be a dual agianst RMAC foe California Baptist. The dual started out good for the Cowboys as Espana would get the Cowboys the 3-0 lead by a 10-6 decision. The Lancers would then take the next two duals, both in pins, to take the 12-3 lead. Reis Humphrey would brawl his was to an 8-2 deciosn to cut the Lancers lead to 12-6. the Lancers would go on a three dual run to take a 27-12 lead when Luis Terrazas would pin Johnson in just 48 seconds! The Lancers would then take the final two weight classes and the match by a score of 36-12.
