Box Score LAS VEGAS, N.M.- After coming off their break, the Cowboys were not able to keep their streak alive as they fell to Colorado Christian 93-81. The Cowboys fell despite another great performance from
Jonathon Mines who had 21 points.
The first half was a fight as neither team had a clear advantage over the other.
With 11:30 left in the half, both teams would be tied at 15 after a three pointer by
Kendrick Nichols. A minute later the Cowboys would get their first lead after a pair of free throws by
Marlon Johnson. A
Ron Lawton dunk would increase the lead to 26-21.
The lead would be short lived though. Colorado Christian would tie up the game and take the lead right before the half. CCU would take the lead into the half 42-40.
In the second half, the Cowboys would push to keep their winning streak alive. They would stay close as they would only be down 53-50 with 15:54 left in the half.
Colorado Christian would then begin to pull away as they would go on a 10-3 run to have a ten-point lead over the Cowboys. The Cowboys would be resilient and cut the deficit to four multiple times.
After free throws by Mines, the Cowboys would only be down 77-75 with just five minutes in the game.
The Cowboys would get close but missed shots at the end that helped Colorado Christian keep the lead and secure the win.
After ending 2015 on a 5 game winning streak, the Cowboys will look to build a new streak. Colorado Christian gave the Cowboys their first conference loss of the season. The Cowboys are now 5-1 in Conference.
