Cowboys Looking to Sweep Pueblo and Western State

PUEBLO and GUNNISON, CO.- After taking down Colorado Mines in a nail biter last weekend, the Cowboys head north to face Colorado State University-Pueblo on Jan. 8th and 7:30 p.m. and Western State Colorado University on Jan. 9th at 7 p.m.  Last weekend, the Cowboys suffered their first conference loss of the season against Colorado Christian University. They ended the weekend on a high note after beating Colorado Mines 70-68 to remain on top of the conference standings.
 
In that game, the Cowboys had a strong second half to help them get lead with three minutes left. In addition, a spectacular performance by Marlon Johnson, who was a rebound shy from a double-double, helped the Cowboys take down Colorado Mines.
 
Leading the way for the Cowboys was Marlon Johnson 33 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 1 assist; followed by Kendrick Nichols 12 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal.
 
The last time the Cowboys and Thunderwolves met, the Cowboys came out on top in the scrappy 93-87 win on December 12th. The Cowboys were lead by Jonathon Mines with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assist. Ron Lawton had 16 points and 6 rebounds. Marlon Johnson had 13 points and 15 rebounds.
 
The Cowboys also downed the Mountaineers of Western State on December 11th by a score of 98-74. In that game the Cowboys were lead by Marlon Johnson with 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks and Jonathon Mines with 25 points, 3 assist, and 3 steals.
