Gunnison, CO- The New Mexico Highlands Women's Soccer team could not get going as they fell to the Western State Colorado University Mountaineers by a score of 0-2. The Cowgirls now sit with a 3-11-1 overall record, and a 3-8 RMAC record.
 
First Half: Jessica Kresl came out firing for the Mountaineers and found the back of the net inside the 13
th minute, putting her team up 1-0. Then, Katie Desch scored for the Mountaineers, giving them a 2-0 lead with 20 minutes to play in the first half. Freshman 
Daniela Fonseca tried to get the Cowgirls on the board, but she could not connect on the shot. Right before the end of the half, Senior 
Samantha Mendez took her crack at the goal, but just missed. The Mountaineers took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
 
Second Half: Junior 
Emily Ortiz did her best to buy the Cowgirls a goal, but she missed just high. Ortiz took one more shot, but she missed high again. Fonseca also gave her best efforts to score for the Cowgirls, but she missed high as well. The Cowgirls had three shots in the last ten minutes but were unable to score. Neither team could get much going offensively in the second half, leading to a final score of 2-0, Mountaineers. Freshman 
Makenna Luster finished the game with 7 saves for the Cowgirls.

th at 1:30 p.m. against the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions.
