Las Vegas, NM- The New Mexico Highlands Women's Soccer team fell to the Regis University Rangers 4-1. The Cowgirls fall to 2-8-1 overall and 2-5 in RMAC.

 The game started as a stalemate. The Rangers outshot the Cowgirls 5-1 at one point, but Freshmen goalie
Katherine Scott racked up 3 early saves. Senior
Samantha Mendez took a shot at the goal, but it missed high. It would still be the Cowgirls to strike first off of a Senior
Danielle Acuna penalty kick to bring the score to 1-0. The Rangers did not take long to answer however, as Maggie Saras knotted the game up at 1-1. The Cowgirls could not get another shot off as the half came to a close with the score tied at 1-1.
Second Half: Senior
Salina Lucero opened up the 2
nd half with a shot, but she missed high. Scott put together 9 saves before the Rangers struck again off of a penalty kick to break the tie. The Rangers took shot after shot and finally got Scott to break as Mickie Piechoski got the ball to the back of the net to put her team up 3-1. They weren't done there, as Tori Rinsem scored once more for Regis, putting them up 4-1. The Rangers outshot the Cowgirls 20-5. The Cowgirls just could not get around the tough Regis defense.

The Cowgirls will continue RMAC play as they head to Pueblo Colorado to take on the Colorado State University-Pueblo Thunder Wolves on October 16
th at 2:30 p.m.
