Las Vegas, NM- The New Mexico Highlands University Women's Basketball team fell to #11 Colorado State University-Pueblo Thunder Wolves by a score of 48-73. Your Cowgirls fall to 2-4 overall and 1-2 RMAC.

First Quarter: The Cowgirls were ready to play in the first three minutes of the game, as Freshmen
Juliana Gurule hit a shot to bring the score to 5-4, in favor of the Thunder Wolves. The Highlands offense could not get a rhythm going as they were only able to score one more basket in the quarter. The Thunder Wolves extended their lead to 23-6 by utilizing the 3 point shot.

Second Quarter: Sophomore
Kaylani Maiava got the Cowgirls started with a bucket to open up the quarter. The Thunder Wolves answered right back with another 3 point shot. Once again, the Highlands offense had a tough time against the Pueblo defense. Maiava had the final 4 point of the half to bring the score to 40-15, Thunder Wolves.

Third Quarter: Maiava scored the opening basket of the half for the Cowgirls, but they were unable to find the basket again for nearly 7 minutes. Again, it would be Maiava that hit the shot to stop the scoring drought. The Thunder Wolves were looking to push the ball on offense and they were successful as they were able to extend their lead to 64-24, heading into the final quarter.

Fourth Quarter: Gurule was able to hit a 3 out of the break, bringing the score to 27-66. Sophomore
Ida Valencia hit two 3's in less than a minute to give the Cowgirls a spark. They used the 3 ball to cut into the deficit as Sophomore
Brianna Pribble and Junior
Kaelin Shaffer each hit one. The Cowgirls closed on a strong note, but they were unable to comeback completely.
