Wrestling Drops Dual To Western State Colorado

LAS VEGAS, N.M. -In the first dual, Ronald Wardleigh pinned Highlands' Trever Perez at the 1:51 mark, giving WSC a 6-0 lead in the match. Senior wrestler Tre Humphrey defeated Zane Rich in a 9-7 sudden victory earning the Cowboys their first three points. Dan Gaylor fell short to Corbin Bennets in a 11-2 major decision in the third dual.
 
Highlands' Reis Humphrey defeated Tyler Adams in the fourth dual in a 9-5 victory. Western's Ian Steen defeated Orlando Guerra in a 9-7 sudden victory, bringing the score to 13-6, in favor of the Mountaineers. Travis Bradford defeated Highlands' Juan Alvardado in the fifth dual in a 21-8 major decision. Mountaineer Jaden Olearnick defeated Jacob Hawthorne in a 9-0 major decisioin. Brandon Supernaw defeatd Luis Terrazas in an 11-3 major decision.

Highlands junior Cody Marques earned the Cowboys an additional three points after defeating the Mick Dougharity in a 7-2 decision in the ninth dual. In the final dual of the match, Andy Armstrong defeated Highlands newcomer Corbin Grenowich in a 2-0 decison, bringing the final score to 28-9. eey a

"They are a nationally ranked team, we knew it was going to be a tough call," said Head Coach Moses. "We had three starters out, and it may have made a difference to have them competing tonight. Everyone batteled and it was a good effort. Back to the drawing board."
