Mines' Career Milestone Helps Lift Cowboys Over Mustangs

Box Score SILVER CITY, N.M.- The Cowboys came out strong as they dominated the first half. Kendrick Nichols and Jonathon Mines had 23 and 22 points respectively.
 
The Cowboys took it to the Mustangs as they started with a 16-4 lead after free throws by Marlon Johnson. The Cowboys continued and expanded the lead to 16 after a three by Nichols and Mines.
 
With 5:22 , Marlon Johnson would slam down a dunk to give the Cowboys  a 36-21 lead. Cowboys would continue scoring and end the half with a 49-37 lead.
 
Coming out in the second half, the boys would score the first five points starting with a layup by James Healy.
 
With 12:14 on the clock, the Cowboys would have a 19-point lead after 2 made free throws by Kaylen Shane.
 
The Cowboys continued and never let the Mustangs have a chance at the lead.
 
They would have a 86-67 lead with 2:42 left in the game. The Mustangs would have no chance to comeback and the Cowboys would end their regular season with a big win.
 
The Cowboys' Jonathon Mines sank two free throws that gave him 1,000 points in the Highlands career. The Cowboys will hit the road to Grand Junction to take on Colorado Mesa on the Mavericks in the first round of the RMAC Shootout on Tuesday. This marks the first time since the 2012-2013 season that the Cowboys have made the RMAC Shootout. Live stats and video will be available.
