Box Score Durango, Colo. - New Mexico Highlands University Women's Soccer Team fell just short in their match up against Fort Lewis College with a final score of 2-1. The Cowgirls drop to a 0-5-1 overall record and 0-2 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference record.
1st Half:
The Cowgirls came out ready to play as NMHU defensive blockd  a shot by Skyhawk's Haleigh Macomb Then Senior
Salina Lucero dribbled her way pasted the Skyhawks defense and got a shot but it was too wide left.  Fort Lewis's Carolyn Archer got a shot on goal , but  Freshman Goalkeeper
Katherine Scott got the save. Both team went back and front but both Goalies were on their toes in the first half.

2nd Half:
The second half started off with nice pass by
Daniela Fonseca which led to a goal by Cowgirls Senior
Anyssa Dagnino.  Skyhawk's tries to answer back with a shot by Courtney Riley but it was too wide left.  Skyhawk's did not give up and with 30 mintues left in the game, Skyhawks got a goal by Alicia Sanchez. As the game came down to the end, Skyhawks  find their way past Cowgirls defensive andShayla Malecki got her head on the ball and past the goalie to take win home with them.Â

The Cowgirls will return to action on Friday, September 23th in Spearfish, S.D. against Black Hills State University at 1pm. There will be Live Stats and Video available onlineÂ
