New Mexico Highlands Women's Volleyball team will take to the road this weekend to take on the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on Friday September 30th at 7:00p.m and Metropolitan State University of Denver on Saturday October 1st at 5:00p.m. Your Cowgirls hold a 5-4 overall record, and 2-2 RMAC.
NMHU Cowgirls:
The Cowgirls come into this weekend fierce as they got their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference sweep against South Dakota School of Mines and Black Hills State. Freshmen
Brianna Montano had a total of 20 kills on the weekend. Sophomore libero
Bryanna Lopez had a total of 27 digs during the homestand. Senior
Caroline Hansen had 18 kills in both matches, and Junior
Shayli Schulz had 60 assists during the sweep. The Cowgirls hope to carry this momentum with them as they travel to Colorado.
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs:
The Mountain lions will be awaiting the Cowgirls with intent to rally back from their five set loss to Adams State on September 24th, which brought their overall record to 7-5 and 2-2 in RMAC play. Junior Natasha Habert had 26 digs, and junior Taylor Hamilton had an outstanding performance against the Grizzlies with 20 kills. Senior Morgan Evans had a productive match as she had 55 assists.
Metropolitan State University of Denver:
The Roadrunners look to slow down the Cowgirls as they will also come in with momentum after winning five straight matches. Last Saturday they played against Fort Lewis College and swept them in three sets bringing their overall record to 9-3 and 4-0 in RMAC. Junior Jackie Lopez had 15 digs against Fort Lewis. Senior Brandi Torr had 39 assists during the match and Senior Michaela Smith racked up 18 kills.
